Agua is now certified by Planet Mark

For the first time we know exactly what our carbon footprint is, and more importantly, how to reduce it

In November last year we took you through some of the changes we’re making to improve Agua’s sustainability credentials and play our part for the planet. Five months on, we’re pleased report that we have been rigorously assessed by Planet Mark, and granted Planet Mark certification.

Now, for the first time, we know precisely what our carbon footprint is – in the last 12 months, the business produced a total of 93.1 tons of CO2, the equivalent of 82 flights from London to New York – and we can now explore how to reduce this in a meaningful way. Having access to this information for the first time is hugely exciting for us, and we’ll keep you posted in the weeks and months to come as we dig into the data. Our immediate objective is to reduce our emissions by 5 per cent in the next 12 months, with longer-term goals to come.

In partnering with Planetmark we don’t just have a concrete understanding of the impact we’re making (right down the the number of sheets of paper we consume in a day), we are now also contributing to a number of international initiatives to reduce carbon emissions. Thanks to Planetmark’s global infrastructure, Agua now protects 15.2 acres of Peruvian rainforest, storing 260 tons of CO2, we’ve also donated to the Eden Project too. The longer we work with Planetmark, the more initiatives we’ll be able to support too, as well as deepening our commitment to these two initial projects.

If you read our update back in November, you’ll know that we’re seeing our sustainability journey as a long term commitment – one that’s going to take time to get right. But, we hope you’ll agree, Planetmark certification is a positive start and a clear statement of our intentions to do the right thing.

As always, if you have any questions or queries you can reach us on info@aguafabrics.com.
