Argentex and Entwine: Two new faux leathers with fine textures

Our two newest vinyl collections need to be seen in the flesh to be believed

The year’s been a good one for Agua’s soft fabrics – we’ve unveiled our first sustainable soft fabric collection, VerdEco, as well as luxurious new collections like our two high-performing velvets, Finezza and Primeira. But, we couldn’t let soft fabrics have all the fun.

Cue our two latest faux leathers, Argentex and Entwine. Both have their own distinct look and feel, but are equally versatile – mixing contemporary colours with intricate embossed textures.

Let’s start with Argentex. This vibrant range of faux leathers combines a glossy finish with a fine woven linen emboss, to complement the many plain vinyls that already form the backbone of our collection. The range’s 20 colours vary from confident metallic shades to solid neutrals, and all are colourfast to sunlight – perfect for indoor or outdoor use alike. This opens up the collection to all manner of different projects and sectors; from hospitality and cruise settings, to workplace and hospitality. We think Argentex’s subtle sheen looks particularly chic in restaurant and hotel environments, particularly when specified in darker shades like Midnight and Anthracite.

Incidentally, Argentex is the fourth Agua collection (and second vinyl collection) that’s suitable for outdoor use. With more and more hospitality venues offering indoor/outdoor dining in the wake of the pandemic, fabrics like Argentex ensure that specifiers can work with materials that are both purpose-built for al fresco projects and good-looking. Moreover, the range meets all Agua’s normal high-performance characteristics: it’s fire retardant to Crib5, waterproof, stain resistant and anti-microbial.

Entwine, meanwhile, replicates a chic hopsack weave fabric, but like all our faux leathers is extremely easy to maintain. It follows the longstanding success of our Parody Linen collection, but replicates a woven material with thicker yarn and a rich melange appearance – unusual for faux leathers. At a distance, the melange effect is particularly impressive. We think it’s nigh on impossible to mark out Entwine from comparable soft woven fabrics like Pearl and VerdEco – even up close.

The great benefit of a vinyl ‘faux soft fabric’ is enhanced practicality, and here too, Entwine delivers. Easy to maintain and wipe down, the collection is suited to all manner of commercial environments, from frontline healthcare right through to workplace and cruise. As with Argentex, the range is fire retardant to crib5, waterproof, stain resistant and anti-microbial too. Performance features aside, designers will be pleased to hear there are 22 shades available, from tinted neutrals to deep shades of blue and indulgent crimson reds.

Both Entwine and Argentex are in-stock now, and available to sample and order. With their subtle embosses, these are fabrics that need to be seen in the flesh to be believed – please do reach out to our sales team for samples. The fine textures on both collections offer cutting-edge quality for contract vinyl fabrics. Certainly, the ‘old’ aesthetic objections levelled at previous generations of vinyl upholstery fabrics no longer stand. These are thoroughly modern materials, suited to the likes of fine hotels to hip office spaces – and everywhere in between.
